About the Role

This is a senior leadership role with a national civil contractor and a genuine seat at the senior leadership table. You'll be responsible for embedding HSEQ governance, strategy and assurance frameworks across the business and its projects, partnering closely with operational leaders, clients and regulators to make sure risks are identified early, controlled properly, and that HSEQ outcomes are practical and auditable rather than paperwork for its own sake. This is an office-based role in Virginia, Brisbane, with occasional flights out to regional project sites.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading HSEQ governance, strategy and assurance across projects and the wider business
• Contributing to business direction as part of the senior leadership team
• Leading ISO recertification across the integrated management system
• Providing leadership, support, and mentoring to site-based teams
• Monitoring compliance and running regular audits, inspections, and risk reviews
• Leading incident investigations and driving corrective and preventative actions that actually stick
• Embedding risk management and control frameworks across projects
• Championing a genuine safety-first culture, not a tick-box one
• Reporting on systems, performance, and insights to leadership and clients

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience leading HSEQ across complex, high-risk construction environments
• ISO recertification experience is a must, you'll be leading the recertification of the integrated management system across ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
• Hands-on experience with digital site safety management platforms
• Exposure to substations, windfarms, or energy infrastructure is a real advantage
• Strong background in audit, assurance and incident management governance
• Deep working knowledge of WHS legislation
• High level stakeholder skills, comfortable in front of clients, regulators and contractors
• Minimum Cert IV in Work Health & Safety, current First Aid and CPR, and a Construction White Card
• Drug & Alcohol Screening/Testing qualification
• Willingness to jump on a plane to regional sites when the work needs eyes on the ground
