Our client is a well-regarded engineering consultancy that partners with Australian industry to deliver safe, sustainable and commercially sound outcomes across the full asset lifecycle, from studies and design through to project execution, commissioning and operations. They are known for a practical, "value-driven" approach to project delivery and for building long-term relationships with major industry partners.

They are now seeking an experienced Team Leader – Electrical Engineering to lead a team of engineers and graduate engineers, while continuing to apply your own technical expertise across a variety of challenging projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager – Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, you will play a key role in the Electrical Engineering leadership team, balancing hands-on technical delivery with people leadership and business development. You'll work across a range of industries including mining, energy, chemicals, and oil & gas, proactively seeking practical and innovative solutions to client challenges.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading and mentoring a team of 6-8 engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture
  • Ensuring engineering services are delivered to agreed budgets, schedules and quality standards
  • Leading and participating in project activities including cost estimation, scope development and stakeholder coordination
  • Undertaking regular site visits to engage with clients, support delivery, and assist with audits and commissioning
  • Providing coaching, technical guidance and career development support to your team, including support toward chartered status or RPEQ
  • Actively contributing to business development through client meetings, site visits and new business coaching
  • Driving continuous improvement in tools, systems and workflows across the electrical team

Essenitals 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • RPEQ
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering
  • 1+ years' experience in a site-based role
  • 6+ months' experience working in Australian industry (mining, energy, chemicals, oil & gas)
  • Demonstrated project engineering or project management skills
  • Technical ability to manage and coordinate multiple stakeholders

Desirable:

  • 1+ years' leadership or management experience
  • Management, coaching or leadership qualifications
  • Experience with Autodesk software
  • Strong knowledge of, or experience using, software such as SKM Power Tools, PTW, or ELEK SafeGrid
