Our client is a privately held, Brisbane Headquartered energy and resources investor with a diversified portfolio spanning bulk commodities, precious metals, base metals and other critical minerals.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this newly created role will see you manage the group's day to day taxation affairs across a growing portfolio of operating and investment entities, integrate a recently acquired asset's tax position into the broader group, and provide strategic tax advice on future acquisitions, divestments and corporate transactions.
This hands on, technically focused role suits a CA qualified accountant with strong Corporate Tax experience from a Big Four or Second Tier firm, ready to transition into a commercial, in house role with genuine strategic exposure to M&A activity in the resources and energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage preparation, review and lodgement of income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax, royalties and other statutory returns across the group
- Oversee the group's tax effect accounting and income tax provisioning, including liaison with external auditors
- Maintain the group's tax governance framework, including tax risk management consistent with ATO expectations
- Manage relationships with the ATO and other revenue authorities, including responses to reviews and audits
- Advise the CFO and executive team on the tax implications of acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and corporate restructures
- Support tax due diligence and structuring for future M&A activity across the group's portfolio
- Assist with integrating newly acquired entities into the group's tax structure
- Provide guidance on cross-border and inter-entity transactions, transfer pricing and thin capitalisation where relevant
About You
- CA qualified
- Current or recent Manager level experience within a Big Four or Second Tier chartered accounting firm, with a strong corporate or transaction tax background
- Demonstrated experience advising on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestments or corporate restructures
- Sound technical knowledge of Australian income tax, GST and tax effect accounting; exposure to resources, energy or agribusiness highly regarded
- High level of personal initiative, well suited to a lean, fast-moving private company environment
- Willingness to travel periodically to regional operating sites as required
