The Opportunity
Civil Company specialising in Bulk Earthworks, Road Construction, Drainage and Detailed earthworks seeking an experienced Civil Estimator looking to become a key part of a growing business alongside an experienced team that focuses on quality.

An exciting opportunity is available in Brisbane for an experienced Civil Estimator to work within a small team where quality is valued over quantity. Your primary purpose will be to ensure the ownership of end to end tender is carried out to a high standard.

Your role will involve preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing scopes, collaborating with suppliers for competitive pricing and ensuring alignment with project goals.

Key responsibilities include:

As a Civil Estimator, you will be accountable for overall tender pricing, strategy and submission on a variety of projects across Southeast Queensland. You will require/be required to:

• Strong communication and negotiations skills – ability to build and maintain relationships with sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Produce tenders from $1 million to $10 million
• Ensure full scope of work is costed for construction tenders
• Prepare schedule of preliminary costs
• Putting together tender methodologies 
• Provide estimating advice and comparative cost advice for alternatives if offered
• Identify risks and opportunities in design and tender documents and explore alternatives in order to ensure the targeted project margin is met or exceeded
• Review and critically assess estimates provided by subcontractor pricing
• Preparation of tenders and BoQ's
• Completion of tender schedules and submission of tenders
• Submission of RFI's 
• Follow up of tender submissions to gain feedback and pivot as required

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar
• 8+ years' experience in civil estimating
• Methodical with a high level of attention to detail
• Experienced in input methodologies
• Proven track record in estimating projects in the industry
• Solid and proven experience working within commercial construction, quantity surveying or estimating
• Extensive software skills in Expert Estimator and Bluebeam
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
• Ability to complete 1st principal take-offs and measurement
• Experience in all aspects of the tender process including analysis and reporting, procurement of subcontractors and suppliers and programming of works
• Be innovative and creative to promote competitive tender outcomes
• Must be able to manage to timeframes with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships
• Strong financial and commercial acumen
• Subdivision experience is advantageous
