Our client is a well-established, multi-entity organisation operating within the property and accommodation sector, with a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Corporate Accountant to join their Brisbane CBD Head Office, reporting to the Finance Manager.
This is a pivotal role within a large and complex group structure, responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting while supporting the broader financial governance framework. Given the organisation's ties to Japanese stakeholders, strong bilingual communication skills are essential, as you will act as the key point of contact for explaining financial performance and variances to this group.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of the monthly corporate Profit & Loss statement, including reconciliations and variance analysis against budget and forecast
- Maintain financial control and balance sheet governance, including corporate overhead expenses and client cost recoveries
- Preparation of monthly payroll journals for wages, on-costs and hours
- Preparation of monthly board packs, consolidation of group results, elimination entries and presentation slides for stakeholder review
- Act as the key point of contact for Japanese stakeholders, explaining financial performance and variances against budget and forecast
- Cash flow forecasting and management, including debtor management and recovery
- Preparation and lodgement of GST reconciliations for Australia and New Zealand
- Preparation of year end workpapers, annual statutory financial reports and audit coordination in line with IFRS accounting policies
- Preparation of tax workpapers, reconciliations and review of tax returns for Australia and New Zealand
- Assistance with the annual corporate budget, including the P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow budgets
- Preparation of the annual FBT return and quarterly benefit reconciliations
- Management of the corporate credit card program
About You
- CA/CPA qualified
- Bilingual proficiency in both Japanese and English (verbal and written)
- Prior experience within a similar corporate accounting role for a multi-entity group
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including application of accounting standards in line with IFRS/AASB
- Demonstrated capability in group consolidations and statutory financial statements
- Knowledge of Australian corporate tax and GST legislation required; New Zealand knowledge highly advantageous
- Strong Excel skills, and confidence explaining financial accounts to a variety of stakeholders
- Highly adaptable, resilient and able to manage competing priorities to tight deadlines
