As a key member of Waterline’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping their strategic direction, driving business performance, and leading a high-performing SMP (Structural, Mechanical and Piping) team. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on their people, clients, and the industries they serve.

Key Responsibilities

As SMP Manager, you will:

  • Lead, develop, and empower a team of SMP engineers and designers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead key client accounts, deepening relationships and identifying opportunities to expand Waterline’s service offerings through business development practices. 
  • Support business growth through proactive engagement, pipeline management, and collaboration with new business teams.
  • Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to achieve Waterline’s strategic and financial objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of SMP projects to the highest technical and quality standards, ensuring compliance with professional engineering requirements.
  • Drive innovation and process optimisation across the SMP function to enhance productivity, quality, and client satisfaction.

About You

You’re a proven engineering leader who thrives on driving results through people. You balance technical depth with strategic vision and can build strong relationships across teams and clients alike.

You’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ in a senior or leadership role
  • Proven experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams in the resources sector
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management capability
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery, risk management, and client engagement
