The Opportunity
Our client is a leading technical consulting firm supporting clients across the mining, resources and energy sectors. They partner with asset owners and operators across the full lifecycle — from origination, strategy and study through to execution, optimisation and closure.
As their footprint across the East Coast continues to grow, they are seeking a commercially driven General Manager – Australia East to nurture and develop clients, shape opportunities, convert work and position the company as a trusted partner — particularly within the metalliferous mining sector.
Key Accountabilities
- Build and maintain a strong East Coast client network, with a focus on the metalliferous mining sector
- Actively lead and personally contribute to business development, client engagement and revenue generation across Australia East
- Identify, shape and convert new opportunities across studies, projects, operational support and emerging service lines
- Develop and execute regional business development strategies aligned to broader growth objectives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders across technical, operational and commercial matters
- Strengthen long-term partnerships with key accounts, ensuring repeat work and sustainable revenue pipelines
- Lead, mentor and grow multi-disciplinary consulting teams across Queensland and New South Wales
- Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, collaboration and commercial outcomes
- Maintain oversight of financial performance, utilisation and profitability within the region
About You
You are a commercial leader first, with deep technical credibility and a strong market presence. You will bring:
- A proven track record as a revenue generator in consulting, ideally within mining, resources or metals
- Deep understanding of metalliferous mining, ideally across studies, projects and operational phases
- Strong East Coast client relationships, with the ability to open doors and close work
- The confidence and presence to operate at Executive and Board level with clients
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering, geology, metallurgy or similar)
- Advanced qualifications in business, commerce or leadership highly regarded
- Circa 20 years’ industry experience, with significant time spent in consulting
- Demonstrated success in business development, client leadership and revenue growth
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance growth, risk and delivery
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to attract, retain and develop high-performing consultants
- Willingness to travel regularly across the East Coast
- Previous experience in a consulting or service led business will be advantageous
