Our client is a privately held, Brisbane headquartered resources and industrial business with a significant portfolio across mining, manufacturing and critical minerals. Following the recent acquisition of a major Queensland mining and processing operation, the business has entered an exciting phase of transformation, backed by substantial long term investment and a clear growth strategy.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this newly created leadership position will take ownership of the enterprise IT and mine operational technology. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role sets the technology agenda end-to-end.
This is a joint role combining transformational change leadership with the ongoing, sustainable operation of enterprise and operational technology. It requires regular travel to regional Queensland for site presence, particularly during the first few months of employment to build relationships and learn the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Leadership
• Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee the end-to-end technology ecosystem: cloud migration, enterprise systems, data governance
and integration platforms.
• Ensure balanced cybersecurity, compliance and risk management necessary for both plant
and mine operations.
• Drive operational excellence in IT service delivery, vendor management and cost optimisation.
Transformation Leadership
• Design and deliver transformation roadmaps, capability assessments, initiative prioritisation and benefits
tracking.
• Lead enterprise transformation programs to drive modernisation and change.
• Build and mature enterprise architecture to ensure solutions are modular, scalable and future-proof.
• Lead large-scale change across people, process, technology and data.
Executive & Stakeholder Leadership
• Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic advice on technology
investments, digital opportunities and risk.
• Develop and manage multi-year technology and transformation budgets, demonstrating clear ROI and
business value.
• Build, mentor and lead a right-sized technology and transformation team.
Success will be demonstrated by delivering a working, secure IT/OT environment during and after the ownership transition, a credible 3-year roadmap and ERP go-live delivered on scope and budget, and eventually a right-sized internal team built out from a team of one.
Qualifications & Experience Required• Degree qualification in Information Technology, Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Significant senior leadership experience across technology strategy, enterprise architecture and IT
operations.
• Proven experience leading large-scale digital and business transformation programs, including ERP
implementation.
• Experience operating in resources, mining, energy or heavy industrial environments, including IT/OT
convergence.
Highly Desirable
• Experience leading technology functions through a post-acquisition or separation transition.
• Background in consulting or advisory-led transformation delivery.
• Exposure to AI, automation and modern data platform initiatives.
• Experience building and leading right-sized technology teams and operating models.
