The Opportunity

Are you an experienced mining engineer with expertise across short, medium and long-term mine planning as well as drill & blast?  Our client is seeking a hands-on mine planning leader to oversee a growing team of mine planning specialists within an open-cut coal mine with an exciting future.  Not only will you be able to mentor an existing team of mining engineers, you will be excited by the challenge of further improving existing processes in preparation for future growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of mine model and associated reconciliations and QAQC checks.
• Oversee provision of 16 week forecast in alignment with annual budget Time Usage Model, trucking, waste, coal, feed and washing targets.
• Oversee the provision and delivery of 16 week forecast.
• Provide short term pit planning guidance to ensure alignment with the 16 week forecast.
• Ensure sufficient communication and understanding of Short Term Planning, Drill and Blast and Civil Projects with Medium Term Plans.
• Assist with provision of sequence planning slide packs including assigned key dates to execute for various dig, dump, civil schedule requirements.
• Implement and lead effective document control within the planning department.
• Oversee the timely provision of all Technical Services engineering designs, plans and schedules to efficiently manage overburden and coal mining processes.
• Maximise operational and financial effectiveness and ensure coal quality and CHPP volumetric requirements are met as per the TUM and annual budget.
• Oversee and ensure medium term dig plans are realistic and achievable.
• Ensure accurate reporting against forecsts.

 Skills and Experience

• Experience in a similar Mine Planning supervisory role
• Significant experience in open-cut mining environments
• Previous experience with Coal is highly desirable
• Proficiency with Spry, Vulcan and Microsoft Office
• The ability to solve problems in a collaborative way
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
