About the role

We're looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client's Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (E&IC) team in Brisbane.

This is a senior, autonomous role for an experienced electrical engineer who brings technical authority, strong client relationships, and a interest in business development. Your impact comes through the quality of your engineering, the trust you build with clients, and the technical leadership you provide across the business.

You'll work across the full asset lifecycle, from early-stage studies through to commissioning and operational support, delivering practical, commercially focused solutions to complex client challenges.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide senior technical authority across complex electrical engineering projects
  • Deliver engineering services to agreed budgets, schedules, and quality standards
  • Undertake regular site visits to support project delivery, commissioning, and audits
  • Act as a key client-facing representative, attending meetings, briefings, and site visits to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Identify and develop new project opportunities and business leads in collaboration with the E&IC leadership team
  • Contribute to proposals, fee structures, and scope documentation
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers across the team
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, workflows, and engineering standards

About you

You're technically authoritative, commercially aware, and you enjoy building genuine relationships with clients. You take a pragmatic, solutions-first approach to complex problems, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and are motivated by delivering real outcomes for Australian industry.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • RPEQ registration
  • Experience in a site-based role
  • Demonstrated experience working in Australian industry — mining, energy, oil and gas, or chemicals
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • A track record of contributing to business development or client relationship activities
  • Must hold full Australian working rights — sponsorship is not available for this role
